Slovenia nestles in the heart of Europe, bordered by Italy, Austria, Hungary and Croatia. Roughly the size of Wales, half the size of Switzerland this small country is certainly full of the most picturesque surprises. |

Slovenia makes a great all year round destination, offering a geographical diversity surely envied by many bigger countries. Packed into a modest 21,000 square kilometres, forty percent of the country is mountainous with three major mountain groups: The Julian Alps, the Kamniske-Savinja Alps and the Karavanke mountains. The rest of the country comprises subalpine hills, karst plateaus, forests, vineyards, rivers, caves and of course 47 km of coastline facing the Adriatic. |

Ljubljana - Most visitors begin their visit to Slovenia in the capital city having flown to Brnik airport which is 23 km to the north of the city. Ljubljana is a sophisticated city being the political, cultural, and commercial hub of the country. The architectural blend of baroque and Habsburg in the old town together with numerous cafes and restaurants make this area a tourist magnet. |
The Julian Alps rest between the River Soca and the River Sava. The majestic peaks, lakes and gorges make this Slovenia's prime hiking, skiing, golfing and camping region. The Triglav National Park embraces almost the entire Slovene section of the Julian alps and includes Slovenia's highest mountain - Mount Triglav. Two picturesque lakes bejewel the Julian Alps - Lake Bled and Lake Bohinj. Lake Bled is probably the country's most popular destination offering a fairytale experience complete with island church and splendid castle. Lake Bohinj is the largest body of water in Slovenia and is the pearl of the Alpine lakes. Both lakes present endless opportunities for numerous activities: rafting, cycling, hydrospeed, canoeing, kayaking, swimming and riding to name a few. Kranjska Gora is located in the northern part of the Julian Alps and attracts mainly winter visitors for the skiing, dog-sledding, night descents from Mount Vrsic and snowmobiling. However, in the summer months the region is an excellent centre for hiking, cycling, horseback riding, paragliding and fishing. There are many hotels, pensions and restaurants plus a 24 hour casino offers a 'touch of glamour.'
